Providing a comfortable in-home environment to board your hound with an abundance of beds,
toys and treats (no crates or kennels) your hound will live and sleep in our home as if it
is their own. Whether your hound needs a short vacation or an extended stay, Greyt Escape
can accommodate your needs! With day visits and overnight stays, your hound will be kept
quite happy for days, weeks and even months at a time.... click here to see some of the hounds
that have vacationed with us this last year. Hounds have come from as far as Lake Havasu City and as
and near as next door to vacation at Greyt Escape.... is it time for your hound’s vacation?
Long time animal lovers, both Michelle and Brian grew up in houses full of pets.
Michelle grew up in the high desert of Southern California and relocated to Tucson in 1998.
Brian is a native Tucsonan. With birds, rabbits, cats, chickens, geese, hamsters, horses and
even a pig... we thought we had experienced it all!
Then, on a sunny spring morning in 2004 while strolling through the annual Reid Park Animal
Fair, we met Riley. The intention on this day was to convince Brian that a dog was exactly
what we needed in our home... and it worked. Worried someone might put an application in for
Riley before we did, we raced home, went on line and filled out the paperwork. Soon we heard
from an adoption coordinator. He spoke in detail with us about adopting our first greyhound. He came
out and did a home visit. We bought books so that we could be educated before Riley arrived.
And arrive he did! Photos were taken the second we were all there and e-mailed to everyone we
knew.
In May 2006 while making the move to our new home and planning our wedding, Michelle decided
to act on her long time dream of opening her own business. If we weren't in agreement on
adopting five (or maybe ten) Greyhounds, why not invite them to stay with us whenever they want?
It would be like a vacation destination for Greyhounds while their owners are away.
On August 1, 2006 we welcomed our first two guests on a 14 day vacation.
And so Greyt Escape had opened its doors for business.
We were married in October and felt we could not leave the greyhounds out of the celebration.
After some thought, we decided that we would make a donation to the Arizona Greyhound Rescue
in lieu of wedding favors. We found a restaurant in town (El Charro Cafe) who agreed to donate
a percentage of our rehearsal dinner bill to Arizona Greyhound Rescue.
If your hound hasn't stayed with us yet, we hope we will meet you all soon!
We encourage you to schedule a tour and see why Greyt Escape will become your Greyhound's
Vacation Destination.
